Jump to Recipe

Green beans are one of those side dishes you either really like or you don’t at all. Smothered Green Beans give a whole new take on green beans for those who don’t really care for them. Trust me, they are good!

What do you need?

  • green beans
  • bacon
  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • soy sauce
  • garlic powder

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet, go ahead and cook your bacon until almost done, but not too crispy. The bacon will finish crisping up when you bake the green beans in the oven.

Drain the bacon on paper towels and then chop them into little pieces.

Drain the green beans.

Pour the green beans into a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder.

Sprinkle the cooked bacon on top of the green beans.

Now pour the brown sugar and butter mixture evenly over the green beans and bacon.

Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, and serve!

I promise they won’t disappoint! I make these every year for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, and they are always a big hit!

Plus, they are just so easy to make. That’s a big plus for me around the holidays, because it’s such a busy time of the year. These will make cooking a side dish for your family Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner much less stressful.

Hope you enjoy!
