Japanese White Sauce

This is the best Japanese white sauce I have ever made at home that was closest to the sauce you get at the restaurant. To be honest, I’ve tried the store bought version called “Yum Yum Sauce” and don’t understand why some people go so crazy over it. It’s alright, but it’s nothing like the real thing.

With just a few ingredients, that you probably already have in your kitchen, you can make your own within minutes. I make it every time I make Hibachi at home.

All you need is: mayonnaise, ketchup, butter, water, paprika, garlic, and sugar.

Just add them all to a mixing bowl and mix. I like using these bowls for sauces and other dips, because they have lids and I can stick them right into the fridge. I like to use a little whisk to mix my sauces to make sure they are blended well.

Make sure your ingredients are well combined, and then refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes to chill it and make sure all of the flavors combine well. I like to make mine in the morning and then I pull it out when we are ready for it. You can even make it the night before if you want.

Get my easy Hibachi Recipe here. This sauce is so good! Serve it with fried rice, chicken, steak, or shrimp, or even with vegetables.

I like to pour it all over my Hibachi and then after I eat some of my food, I pour it over it again, because one serving is just not enough for me. It’s more like, I like a little bit of Hibachi with my Japanese white sauce. It’s that good.

I hope you enjoy this sauce as much as we do! If you try it, you can give your feedback and rate it in the comments. It is much appreciated!

Hi Kim, I don’t see why you couldn’t since they are both tomato based, but I can’t say for sure since I’ve never tried it. Since there is sugar in the recipe, I would think that would help give it the sweeter taste that ketchup has. If you try it, let me know how it turns out for you!

Thanks Kim! So happy you liked it. I was just telling someone the other day that this sauce is the closest thing you will find to being like the sauce in a Japanese restaurant.
