Autumn Treat Mix
If you’re looking for a fun and delicious Fall treat, this Autumn Treat Mix is perfect! I put all of the ingredients into separate bowls, and then I let Austin pour them all into one large bowl and mix them together. If you have kids, this is something you can let them help you with. It’s so easy, and just something fun you can plan to do together to make sweet memories in the kitchen. Austin was so proud of this treat mix, and it melted my heart to see him so excited!
I wanted to make a sweet treat for Austin and our nieces and nephews to celebrate Fall, even though it’s still 90 degrees outside. Plus, Austin is really into Halloween this year, so I just thought he would really love this. I created a quick “recipe” so you can make this too, but feel free to omit/substitute ingredients if you want something different. You can most definitely make this your own! You can even change the measurements of the ingredients going into the mix if you want more or less of something. Just have fun with it!
Here’s what we put into our treat mix:
- pretzels
- marshmallows
- muddy buddies
- m&m’s (I just got the regular m&m’s and picked out the green and blue ones so I would have “Fall” colors left)
- Brach’s Autumn Mix (candy corn and pumpkins)
You can most definitely make your own muddy buddies. I have done that before, but this time I decided to just buy them already made to make this quicker and easier.
Start by pouring the whole bag of muddy buddies into a large bowl.
Next, add the candy corn and pumpkins.
Now, add the marshmallows…
And the m&m’s…
And lastly, the pretzels.
Gently mix everything together.
This will make roughly 10-11 cups of treat mix. I’m estimating, because I had dipped a small bowl out for Austin and didn’t really measure how much he got. When I made treat bags for our 7 nieces and nephews, I measured out 1 1/2 cups of treat mix into each bag. I used all of the treat mix, making 7 bags total. You can easily make 10 treat bags out of this mix if you want to add roughly one cup of treat mix to each bag.
They would make perfect gifts for teachers, party favors, Halloween, Just Because gifts for Fall, or just something fun for kids!
How cute are these?! They are inexpensive to make and something you can do yourself at home. I already had everything on hand to make these, but if you don’t keep materials like these for crafts, then you can easily find them at your local craft store or online.
Here’s what you will need:
- cellophane bags (I used 6×9 inch)
- twine
- cardstock and/or printing paper
- hole punch
- 2.5 inch circle paper punch
- scissors
- glue stick (if you’re making your own card stock labels–see instructions below)
I recommend getting the circle paper punch from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Arts and Crafts Store if you don’t already have one. They can be a little expensive depending on the size. If you download the App to one of these stores, you can use a coupon to buy it and save money. I got mine from Hobby Lobby for 40% off.
If your printer doesn’t support using cardstock, here’s a little trick to making your own sturdy labels. Print the labels on regular printing paper, and then use a glue stick to glue it onto a piece of cardstock paper (whatever color you want to use–I used brown).
Give it a few minutes to dry, and then use your circle paper punch to cut out the labels. You may have to use scissors to trim the edges so that the paper punch will fit over the labels just right.
This will give you perfectly round, sturdy labels. Use your hole puncher to punch holes into the tops of the labels for the twine to go through. Now you’re ready to put the treat bags together.
Start by twisting the top of the treat bag, and tie the twine around the top of the bag.
Now add the label by putting the twine through the hole on the label.
Now tie a bow with the twine and you’re done!
The kids loved these!
If you’re wondering where I got the labels from, I made them myself, but I’m happy to share the free printable with you so that you can use them too! Just click the button below to download and then print them out!
Create these fun treat bags with your kids or grandkids to make fun memories together!
Another fun idea: Make these as a treat for a family movie night. It’s a snack everyone will enjoy while spending quality time together. That’s my kind of night. There’s no place I would rather be than at home spending time with my family.
If you don’t want to make treat bags, you can just store the treat mix in an airtight container or a large ziplock bag.
Enjoy making memories with your little ones!!!

I have never heard of muddy buddies but this looks yummy. I also like that it’s easy for kids to do.

Thanks Kelli! Muddy Buddies are just Chex mix cereal mixed in a chocolate and peanut butter mixture and then coated in powdered sugar. You can find it already made at the grocery store, Amazon, or there are plenty of recipes to make it yourself. It’s definitely something fun that your kids can help with.
